1.Research Summary

Neuroscience is an exciting research field. We are studying neuroscience in basic and translational areas and addressing fundamental biological mechanisms in development and functions of the nervous system. Furthermore, we aim to reveal the pathophysiology and possible therapeutic interventions for neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. Multidisciplinary approach is applied to achieve our research goals using state-of-the-art research techniques including histology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and behavioral analysis.

2.Research Subjects

  • 2-1. Mechanism by which specific neurons and glial cells are generated from neural stem cells
  • 2-2. Elucidation of of RNA dynamics in the brain
  • 2-3. Pathological analysis of neurodegenerative disorder models and attempts to ameliorate symptoms
  • 2-4. Analysis of the neuronal circuits underlying higher brain function
  • 2-5. Asymmetry in the brain
  • 2-6. Microenvironment which supports neurogenesis in the adult brain
