Development of gene transfer techniques for research on development
[Description]
There are many advantages to using chicken embryos, such as low cost, ease
of use and good manipulability, and they have long been valued as a model
animal for research on the development of vertebrates. In our laboratory,
we aim at the application of embryonated chicken eggs to a wider range
of life science research fields by developing and improving gene transfer
techniques for chicken embryos.
We have overcome various problems, to date, and have established a system
that can express lengthy genes steadily for a long time and we can temporo-spatially
suppress gene expressions by adding drugs.
We aim at elucidating life phenomena from the later stage of development
to the early stage of growth.
