Message from the Dean

The history of Niigata University School of Medicine goes back to 1910 when National Niigata Medical College opened. The college became National Niigata Medical University in 1922 and Niigata University School of Medicine in 1949. The school celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010. A total of 9,975 medical students have graduated as of March 2017.

Research activities

Niigata College of Medicine was founded in 1910. It was later organized as Niigata Medical College, and then accredited as Niigata University School of Medicine in 1949. The School of Medicine traces its history back about ninety five years, and its more than eight thousand graduates play an important role in the community and in the field of education and research.
